That sounds like good ideas about turning off and removing from case. I tried
to remove mine, but it is securely in there. However, the phone was just
floating on top of the water, and could not have been in it more than ten
seconds.

Subject: Re: Help, What to do about a briefly submerged phone

I would start by turning the phone off, I mean all the way off like power it
down. Then I would take it out of the case and put it in a bag of uncooked
rice. Leave it there overnight before you try turning it on again or plugging
it in.

I’ve had this happened to my phone as well and it made me feel dumb too. But my
phone was OK and I think yours will be too.

Hi, all. I'm so ready to kick myself.

I know the newer iPhones are water resistant, but how resistant?

I was in the kitchen cooking and had my phone on the counter so I could
use the speaker phone. I moved a dish towel and woops, my phone slid off the
counter and into a full sink of soapy water.

This is an iPhone 12 Pro that has a Zag case on it with a tempord glass
screen protector. The case has TPU bumpers on the edges of the phone and a
hard shell on the back and halfway up the sides of the phone. None of the
ports are protected like the battery charger or speakers.

I scooped the phone out of the water as soon as it happened and was
able to continue my conversation with no sign of the phone malfunctioning. It
seems to be Okay, except the edges of the case where the TPU touches the screen
are damp. The speakers sound Okay and all of the buttons are working.

Do I put it in a bag of rice or what? Ironically, I have a day before
I need to return it to Verizon.

How soon can I safely plug the phone into a brick charger or should I
even try??

HTH. And yes, I feel really dumb. I'm going to price Otterbox cases
now. <sigh>
