First, when reading the instructions for selling or giving away or whatever an old iPhone, before erasing the iPhone, one is also advised to sign out of iCloud, and I was wondering why since erasing the phone signs one out of iCloud, anyway?
Second, in regards to turning off the iPhones without the home button, I know Apple talks about holding in one of the volume buttons and the side button for a few seconds. But being afraid of calling 911 by mistake, I've always pressed the volume up button and released it, pressed the volume down button and released it, then pressed the side button and released it and I have gotten the dialog to shut down the phone. I know Apple gives these instructions for force restarting the phone, but one needs to hold down the side button quite a bit longer for this. Anyway, by turning the phone off the way I am, what am I doing, and does it harm the phone in any way? -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
