My only comment is that Apple should rethink it’s claim to being the most secure of the smart phones if completely erasing an iPhone through the reset process enables someone acquiring that phone to get into the prior owner’s iCloud account. And I’m not sure finding references to old iPhones in your same account under the same Apple ID is what’s being discussed here.

After a complete reset, the phone will be like a new device. You can get to the power off button on the screen by holding down either the volume up or volume down buttons simultaneously with the side power button. When you do, a new screen appears with power off at the top, followed by Medical ID, Emergency SOS, and Cancel. If you test this, you will have to enter your passcode if you cancel out of it. Second, in regards to turning off the iPhones without the home button, I know Apple talks about holding in one of the volume buttons and the side button for a few seconds. But being afraid of calling 911 by mistake, I've always pressed the volume up button and released it, pressed the volume down button and released it, then pressed the side button and released it and I have gotten the dialog to shut down the phone. I know Apple gives these instructions for force restarting the phone, but one needs to hold down the side button quite a bit longer for this. Anyway, by turning the phone off the way I am, what am I doing, and does it harm the phone in any way? -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
