It has been a few years since I scanned a book, but it did handle two pages at once and treated them as two separate pages. I was using a stand that held the phone about a foot or at least 10 inches above the two pages of a book held open. I think there is a setting, but I'll have to check tomorrow. I know for a fact that VDScan, which originally was Voice Dream Scanner does. I once scanned a 230 page book into one document. I think that is close to the maximum that can be done in one document, but you could always export the documents and combine them in word or whatever on a computer.
