I disagree, as a former mobile geo user having tested internal vs external 
receivers, I believe I personally would want a receiver for my phone, even if 
it had one built in.

External receivers increase battery life accuracy and gps performance.  Every 
inch of accuracy you can eak out of a GPS is worth it for blind users.

Then there is the cost of IPhone plans which many of my clients have no need to 
pay.  Even if they are stuck paying for a $130 gps receiver, they still save 
thousands on the cost of buying an IPhone or buying into a 3 year contract.  
There's no use at all paying that kind of money if you don't want or need a 
cell phone.
