Hi Sandy,

Not sure if you missed my post from a couple of days ago, but I had written
to Harry from Standscan and asked for clarification about the 12 Volt
Battery Holder. I posted his reply which basically said that somehow they
had overlooked to make the 12 Volt Battery Holder available on the website
as an item you can buy even though they mentioned it. They have since fixed
this and if you look under "Accessories" on the website you will now find
that item at a cost of $4.95. It uses 8 simple Double A batteries.

Raul also posted a discount code Standscan made available to Viphone list
members. By using "VIPHONE" without the quotes as a discount code during the
checkout process, you get a 10% discount. Of course if all you want to order
is the 12 Volt Battery Holder because like in your case you already bought
the Standscan Pro you would only save 50 Cents, but the offer is there.
Those who order a Standscan Pro get 10% off it and a free 9 Volt Battery
Holder, if you add the 12 Volt Adapter and 12 Volt Battery Holder you will
get 10% off everything plus the free 9 Volt Battery Holder.

Sieghard

Subject: Re: An important suggestion for anyone contemplating buying the
StandScan Pro!

Hi,

While I saw a brief description of the 12 volt battery case, on the
StandScan site, neither I or my partner (a veteran online shopper!) can find
it to buy. Perhaps, this explains why I never received it with my order.

Now, just a suggestion, I am sure, as has been mentioned here, it will
be possible to use other types of back-up power to bring the brightness up
to 12 volts. I, for example, have my trusty Turbo Charger for my iPhone 4s.
However, that charger, which comes complete with different connectors, does
not have the appropriate one for the StandScan. It does have one which is
the right shape, but not big enough. i am thinking that if I can get some
sort of enlarging adaptor, I should be good to go. The advantage of this
solution would be that I would not be relying upon expensive batteries, but
rather on a rechargeable back-up.

My problem is that I don't know the names for all these sorts of
connectors, which makes it hard to research online. plus, I live miles and
miles away from the nearest shop that sells milk, let alone electronic
adaptors!!! So, I think that someone in a better situation might find the
solution before me. I will keep trying though. Does anyone know, should
there be some sort of number/name on the connector that comes with the mains
adaptor?

Sorry for the wooly-headed nature of this message, its early, I have
toothache and I haven't had any coffee yet.

    Happy researching!

    Sandy.

Hi.

That will be interesting where I can find such a battery pack in Denmark. I
am quite sure, I will need to order the battery pack from somewhere abroad.
Can anyone tell me, if we can get any rechargeable batterypack that will
work.

If anyone knows a dealer that will sell for Denmark, it will be fantastic.

Best regards Annie.

Hello,

Any electronics shop should sell it. Wait until you receive the 12 V adapter
so you can take it to the store with you. This way, the clerk can provide a
battery pack with the proper connector. In the US, I would suggest Radio
Shack. In NZ, I would suggest Dick Smith. I do not know the name of the
equivalent shop in Australia.

I ordered a StandScan Pro and 12V adapter yesterday. I also did not find the
12V battery holder on the site; even directly on the StandScan Pro product
page itself, where relevant accessories are also displayed, and you can add
them just by checking their corresponding boxes, the only things shown are
the 12V DC adapter and some camera lens kit. I don't think the SC folks
meant to sell the 12V battery pack; the description just says that different
battery packs can be used, a 9V or 12V, implying that you could go out and
just get what you wanted from anywhere. Actually just looked at the FAQ page
on the site, and it seems to confirm this; question is why are batteries not
included, and answer is that batteries are not allowed to be transported by
air.

What problem did you have with PayPal linkage? I am in the U.S., just
ordered a StandScan Pro and 12V adapter yesterday, paid via PayPal using
direct account transfer, and had no issues. Am looking forward to its
arrival! Hope the site works better for you next time!

Maria

I tried to order the ScanPro over the weekend. I didn't find the 12v battery
holder anywhere on their page. Just the wall adapter. I also didn't order
because their page didn't link to PayPal properly. I will probably contact
the manufacturer regarding the lighting before I make the purchase at this
point. Thanks a bunch for the product review. It may almost make my Optacon
obsolete which I hope it does since my finger doesn't read as well as it
once did.
