Hi, Don,

I, too, have an iPhone with only WiFi connection to the internet. I use Navigon but it won't give cross street information. I believe that Ariadne and blind square do not load any map data to your device except what is needed at the moment through a cell connection.

My question is this. Which of the various GPS programs store the map info on the phone rather than retrieving it each time from the internet? I am especially interested in programs which announce the names of streets as they are crossed or approached. Ariadne and blind square come to mind.

What I hope to do is to load the map info via wifi since I have no cell service on my 3-GS, and of course the ipod doesn't have cell data capability. Then if my understanding is correct, I should be able to take either my 3-GS or my Ipod fifth generation out and about using GPS.

Thanks.

Don Roberts
