David, This is a good example of why we should all read through all the messages before posting a reply. Here is Raul's follow-up post that you apparently missed: -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Raul A. Hello all. Thank you Scott for that confirmation. Also, I was able to walk the sighted person over the phone on pairing the display with the iPad and Voice Over wasn't running. I was afraid that the VO options would be dimmed out if VO wasn't running, but I'm glad to know that wasn't the case. Also Scott, just as you said, once VO was activated via the triple press of the Home button, the display and the iPad married and lived happily ever after. That is, until they decide to null the pairing once again. So, thanks all for the discussion, and we can put this one to rest. It saved me a 2 hour trip to do it myself. ,smile>. -- Raul A. Braille displays must be paired through the VoiceOver menu, which can only be accessed when VO is running. After a braille display is paired, you can see its status in the Bluetooth menu, and you can reconnect it in the Bluetooth menu, but it will only initially appear in the braille menu in the VoiceOver menu before it is initially paired. My guess off the top would be that you can't do this, but I thought I'd ask. I don't have anyone around who can help me figure this out on my own. So here goes. If you are in a situation where you want to pair a Braille display with an iPad or iPhone, but let's say that you are doing this remotely over the phone and the person who will be doing this is sighted, can this be done without Voice Over running? I'm in a situation where a client of mine isn't comfortable enough with the iPad just yet but wants to pair the Braille display with it. So, he's having someone sighted help. This sighted person isn't very tech comfortable, but can do regular gestures and has her own iPhone in fact, but knows nothing about Voice Over. So, I figured that if I can walk her through pairing the display with the iPad without Voice Over running, I wouldn't have to do on the spot training of Voice Over. If it can't be done, then of course I'll do that, but I was trying to avoid extra work. >>> >>> Thanks much. >>> >>> -- >>> Raul A.
