Hi Don and Joanne, If you want to buy an iTunes gift card online and receive the code by email then you would have to send a gift card to yourself. The difference would be not so much in security since you would have to have a credit card on your iTunes account in order to buy the gift card, but once you receive the email and redeem the card, you could theoretically go in and remove your credit card information. If you were paranoyed you could do this and just add the credit card information for the time it takes to buy a new gift card each time you run out of credit. However, even if you are not paranoyed (like me) and feel it is safe to have your credit card on iTunes, I still prefer to use a credit balance from a gift card since that way I don't have a number of small charges on my card each month if I buy a few apps and maybe some songs. I use my credit card also for my business and it's not unusual that I have between 40 and 60 transactions a month so I don't need any more since I have to split up each statement into business and personal amounts. Anyhow, I think buying gift cards when they are on sale is the way to go. About a month ago 7 1 1 had $50 gift cards on sale for $40 and I bought 3 of them so I spend $120 but got $150 credit. I would have normally only bought one or 2 cards, but since I want to get a 3-year Seeing Eye subscription one of these days I decided to get enough credit so I can pay the $130 which now in fact only cost me $104.
