The only thing I had to do after upgrading to ios6 was put in my apple id
and password. Kind of freeked me out along with the no speach thing while it
was rebooting.

I wouldn't worry about it. I upgraded my 4 when iOs 6 came out, all done
over wifi, with no issues. Just make sure you have a good backup and good
electricity as updating over battery is a definite no no at least for me.
