I plan to order the iPhone 5s online from the Apple Store. I was able to pre-order the iPhone 4S from there, and had it the first day they were available. However, last year when I tried to pre-order the iPhone 5, doing so at five o'clock in the morning Eastern Standard Time, I had already missed the window to get one of the first ones delivered, so I just decided I didn't need the 5 all that bad after all. Although I'm now eligible for the full upgrade price from AT&T, something I wasn't able to say when I was trying to be one of the first to get the 5 last year, I'm wondering if Apple are indeed going to offer unlocked 5s phones to be purchased on the first day one is able to buy? For, in the past, here in the United States, we've had to wait a few weeks unless we've bought a carrier specific phone. But, in checking the Apple Store now, it looks as if folks are able to pre-order an unlocked 5c, so I'm wondering if the same will hold true for purchasing a 5s on Friday? Oh, when I selected the unlocked 5c just to see what it would tell me, I was told it would be available to ship by September 25. I was too afraid to play around to get a shipping date for the 5c if I were to do the upgrade, as I didn't want to take a chance on making that my upgrade phone by mistake. Oh, what the heck, as I figure they would want my credit card and all, or at least my password, before doing an upgrade. So, I went ahead and entered my zip code and last four of my ssn, and they told me the 5c delivers on September 20. Of course, I then canceled out of there, as I want the 5s.

Subject: where will you purchase the iPhone 5s

Hi all. Just curious about what different people will do when it comes time to purchasing the iPhone 5s. Oh, and before I go on, just a point to note, the s in the name 5s is lower-case because if it's a capital S it looks too much like the number 5 visually, so Apple made it a small s on purpose. So, the correct way of writing it is iPhone 5s. Anyway, since you cannot pre-order the 5s, will you go to your local phone carrier store, or to the Apple store? I'm just curious as to whether people will go this Friday and wait long lines like Black Friday in the
US, or if they will wait a few days until the lines get less.

I'm pretty excited myself because this will be my first time getting a new phone the day it comes out. In the past I've gotten it when it was an afterthought, or in the case of the 4s, when it had been out for
about 4 months already. usually I wait in case there are initial
problems found with the first batch of hardware, but this time around
I'm diving in with my eyes closed as the saying goes.

Although all members are welcome to respond, I'm hoping that only people who are getting the 5s will respond to this thread since I'm not asking about whether it's a good idea, or if the 4s is better, or if we should stay with what we have. This is because there are other viphone threads
which have already covered this.

Cheers.
