I will purchase mine online. I live in a state which has, one, only one Apple 
store! It's nearly an hour away by bus, and a hugely expensive cab ride. The 
AT&T store is closer, but it would be just my luck to wait on line for several 
hours and find out that all the phones are gone! I figure I'll just learn to be 
patient and wait.
