My understanding is that a separate authorization is only required if you transfer a book to your iPhone via iTunes, DropBox or some other method. If you're able to download a book directly to your iPhone then there is no separate authorization step.

but am not sure of that. I have never had any authorization issues
when downloading books directly to my iPhone.
