You don't need to be connected to the internet when reading a book. The only time you need to be connected is when you download a book or use itunes to transfer a book to your device.

Even though the government is back up and running, it may take them a
while to get everything going smooth on the site and with the app. I
submitted a problem report but have not received any acknowledgement
of my message. Guess they have some catching up to do. If you are
still getting the authorization trouble in a few days, email their

I think the BARD Mobile support address is:

but am not sure of that. I have never had any authorization issues
when downloading books directly to my iPhone.
