When I upgraded from IOS 6 to IOS 7, I used iTunes. I wanted to grab an
encrypted backup before I started the upgrade, so it was already
connected to my PC. Once I started the upgrade through iTunes, I had a
lot more feedback on the status of the upgrade through iTunes then I get
when I upgrade over the air. I also don't think you need as much free
space on your phone as you do when you do a over the air update.

Then, you won't need !use iTunes.

Very interesting... perhaps the major iTunes revisions like changing from
version 10 to 11 are critical; but perhaps the incremental updates aren't
that significant. Perhaps some others with experience will chime in re this.
Thanks for the help- I'll go ahead with iTunes update.

If you update iTunes then IOS 7.0.3 will still work. Sometimes you have to
update iTunes in order for it to work with newer versions of IOS. For
example, I couldn't update to IOS 7 until I updated iTunes first.

I'm definitely confused- My phone is IOS7.03 but I did not check for
iTunes updates before updating the IOS. The phone is syncing with the
PC and iTunes. Admittedly Digit Eyes and some of my iBooks are not
installing. If I go ahead and do that recent iTunes update, will IOS7.03
still work?

You just won't be able to sync with that device until it has been
updated, plus iTunes will remind you of the update so you sure won't
forget grin.

I know that for some reason you're supposed to update iTunes before
updating the IOS, but what happens if you forget? Do you just wait for
the next IOS update and update iTunes then, or what? Thanks.
