Hi there,

It seems to me that this is a very long and weird way to read the messages so I'll try to explain what I do and really hope you'll both give it a go and find it works.

OK. I have just gone in my mail and found the first message was read out for me. However, I was not sure that it was all read so I did a quick two-finger flick upstarting a little above the Home button and ensured I'd read it all. As soon as I knew I had, I placed two fingers on the centre of the screen, slightly apart, and the speech stopped.

I could then locate the delete button just above and slightly right of the home button and I was ready placed in the next message for reading.

Now the problems start when it isn't so simple. When you first go into mail you are placed in the list of messages. I often touch the screen to locate the first of these before double tapping. I find this is best achieved by locating the back button, always on the left, about a third down on the screen, then flicking right until I get that first message. This can be about four flicks from the left as I listen to "Inbox whatever it is", Edit, Serach and then reach the first message. When you get to grips with this you can probably find the first message without those flicks.

Does this make any good sense now.

Please tell me if you still have problems. I do want you to get it so you are both able to do it.

Hello,
Actually, the two finger flick up was not working. A three finger flick up
bring the message up on the screen. She could then tap the middle of the screen
and do a two finger flick Downford to start reading. Very strange. Thank you
all for your help. Hope she can master the gestures in this will work for her.

Only two-finger flick up, not three-finger flick up.

Hello all,
Thank you for the tips. I am seeing her today, so will try the three finger
flick up and, I will try waiting longer before trying the three finger or two
finger flick up. Thank you

Hi,
I can reproduce this on my for S. It happens when I try to read a message which
hasn't finished downloading. Perhaps, she is a little impatient or her Internet
connection is very slow as his mine!

She has an iPhone 4S. Running iOS 6. When she opens the message and swipes
right she can see everything except when it gets to the date it then skips from
the date to Mark message, move, etc. Everything is visible and readable except
for the actual body of the message. Two finger flick at the doesn't do
anything. No feedback.

It shouldn't be a problem with the email provider. Are we talking about the
native email client app? Is she seeing her list of messages in the in box? If
so then double tapping on a message should bring up the message and a two
finger swipe up should read the body of the message from the top. When she
explores the screen after double tapping on a message what does she see?

Containers might help navigate a bit, but if a two finger swipe up doesn't read
the body of the message then there are bigger problems then will be addressed
by containers. Are we talking about an iPhone or an iPad?

Hello again list,
I am still having trouble helping this person read the bodies of her email
messages. We have tried swiping right, we have tried flicking up with two
fingers. We have tried flicking down with one or two fingers. We have tried
swiping left with one finger. Nothing has worked.
Is it possible that her email provider is not compatible with voiceover?
What an update to iOS 7 with the use of containers help?

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks,

Beth
