My battery had dropped 20% in about three hours, while simply sitting on my desk with the lock screen on. I updated to 7.1 via wi fi. I went and did a Google search, and it looks like sighted people are also experiencing the faster battery drain issue with 7.1. I let my battery drain completely overnight, and have it recharged. I went to settings again, and made sure the background and refresh is turned off. I also reset the phone. I’ll see how this goes. Next stop will probably be the witch doctor. I remember some years back, it was said that BrailleNotes drain the battery faster while using speech and Braille as opposed to just running only the Braille display. That makes me wonder if the iPhone's audio amplifier is drawing enough power when running VoiceOver to exacerbate a battery drain issue. If you turned off sound effects to suppress those clicks and pops that you hear when you move about the screen, would you get less battery drain? Like I said, this is just an odd thought, perhaps not worthy of serious consideration. The battery drains much faster now with IOS 7.1 I have bluetooth turned off. I have noticed a new update always turns it on and I have to go turn it off again.
