Hi Flor, my point was that all those methods (unplugging a PC then plugging it 
back in, pressing the RESET button, holding POWER down for a few seconds) force 
the PC to shut down improperly. In other words, you are responding to a 
situation where you cannot properly shut down the computer through the user 
interface (e.g. the PC has frozen). I've yet to find a situation where a normal 
reboot doesn't resolve something, but an improper shut down does. You are 
thinking about some older phones and PDAs that stored user data in RAM. In 
those cases, when you removed the battery, this would cause the RAM to be 
erased meaning that you would have initialized the entire system.
