Hi Grant,

Doing a reset by holding the power and home buttons may not be something you
want to do every day and shouldn't have to do, but it also won't hurt. It
will definitely reset more things than a simply shutdown and reboot of the
phone and in your case I'd try it. I would probably remove all apps from the
app switcher and do a regular reboot, then do the reset and while it may not
fix your problem, I highly doubt it would hurt anything just as pressing the
reset key on a computer won't hurt anything either.

Regards,

Sieghard

Thanks Donna! It definitely takes time to get used to listening to a voice
that quickly, but if you're interested, you could try cranking up your rate
a bit when you're just listening to system prompts (like opening the mail
app and browsing to a folder) then slowing it down to read the actual
content. Of course, this is assuming you can change your rate. :)

I don't have a solution to your problem.

I just wanted to say...Wow!!! I can't understand but every other word VO
says when the speed is set to 100% Heck, my brain or ears can't even keep
up to follow along with VO is saying. LOL! Wish I had your talent, it would
make doing tasks on my device faster. 65% is the fastest speed that I'm able
to go and still be able to understand VO and comprehend what I'm listening
to VO reading to me.

Hi all,

I normally keep my speech rate at 100%, but I have just discovered that it
is in fact stuck there. Adjusting it from the rotor, or from the VO
preferences page, has no effect. Actually, that's not entirely true; VO
occasionally announces something using the lower rate, but otherwise sticks
to 100%. For example, if I am moving through a bulleted list on a web page,
VO announces the "bullet" symbol in whatever speech rate I have set, but
then reverts to 100% to read the rest of the text.

I am using iOS 7.1.2 with an iPhone 5S and the default U.S. English voice.
I'm not sure that this is a big enough deal to warrant extensive
troubleshooting (e.g. restoring the phone or resetting all settings), but I
wanted to inquire whether anyone has ever had a similar problem or has any
tips.

Thanks,

Grant
