I went from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5s. That was the difference between night and day and made sense. Going from a 5s to a iPhone 6 probably won't make as much sense but as was already said, because you want to and you can afford it also works!
At our house, it's my wife's turn to upgrade her old iPhone 4. She says she likes her 4 just fine because all she uses it for is a phone.
