It’s a 5.  I’ll try another delete and reinstall first, then consider a reset.

What phone is it? If it's a 5 or 5S, some kind of reset may be needed. My first 
thought is a settings reset. I don't know if that will help, but it might be 
worth a try. Remember that this will reset your VO settings and triple click 
home settings. Again, it might not be worth doing, but short of a total clean 
install of iOS, it's all I can come up with. Anyone have better ideas?

  I think Alex’s suggestion to completely delete it nd to reinstall would be my 
recommendation. I would make sure you remove it from the app switcher first, 
then delete and reinstall and see if this fixes the problem. It is working for 
me as well and in fact I have the feeling it’s faster/more responsive in iOS 8, 
but that might just be perception.

    Try turning off camera access for the app. Next time it launches, it should 
ask for permission; let it. I can't think of anything else to    try.

      It works here too. Try this:
      1. Open Settings, then go to Privacy, then Camera.
      2. In the list of apps, find Money Reader and see if it is on or off.
      3. If it is off, double tap to turn it on. This will let the app access 
the camera; it sounds like it might not have that permission right now.
