Not quite what I was looking for, but I did find the response to my question. The answer is no, one cannot currently create a POI out of thin air as you could in Ariadne or MyWay. At the moment you have to create a POI in Four Square and then look for that POI from within the Seeing Eye GPS app. I guess it's not altogether complicated but kind of a pain in the...well, to each his own. I read through the user manual earlier and was not convinced it can replace my current method of using Ariadne and the free Sendero Lookaround app. With the latter I especially enjoy being able to shake the phone for updated cross street information. Thanks again guys for your feedback.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but here goes: You can search for a point of interest, and set a route to it. --- Be positive! Excellent. This was exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for. I don't mind plunking down the money but want to make sure it lives up to expectation. As far as I know, there is no means of trying out the app except for the month-long subscription, which albeit fairly priced is still money out of the wallet. Thanks guys. I'm especially intrigued that one need only run one app for orientation. One more question though, is it possible to drop a point of interest at a specific location similar to Ariadne, or is it necessary to tie the POI to a specific address? -- Twitter: @ScribblingJoe Visit my blog: http://joeorozco.com/blog From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Charles Rivard Sent: Sunday, September 28, 2014 3:55 PM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Seeing Eye GPS App, Worth It? It depends on what you consider as being cost efficient. I think that, by far, it is the absolute best GPS available for a blind traveler. It is the easiest to enter data into. Pros and cons: I have gotten updates to other GPS apps that broke their accessibility until another update fixed the issues. That will not happen with the Seeing Eye app, because it is specifically designed for blind users. The app is not self contained. By that, I mean that maps are not part of the app. You must have cellular coverage when traveling, because the maps are accessed using your data. That is both a plus and a minus, in that, while your data is used, you also are assured to be using the latest available maps, even if they were updated only, say, an hour ago, and haven't been incorporated into other app updates. The fact that maps are not included also is a big space saver, if that is a concern. You can probably get about the same results by running a combination of 2 or more GPS apps, for example, Look Around and Navigon or Tom-Tom, but that is not only more time consuming and cumbersome to set up, but is a bigger battery drain. Using the Seeing Eye app is the only app you need to run. Overall, I'd say that, after using GPS apps for over a year on an iPhone 5, If you can afford it, I would say that it is well worth the money. --- Be positive! Hi, now that the Seeing Eye GPS app has been out a while, can people give up-to-date impressions? Is it worth the subscription cost, or are there alternatives that work better and more cost-efficient? Thanks for your input.
