Brian,

I called IBM support, opened the PMR for zVM 3.1, but they ordered the fixes
for zVM 5.1 for me. I told them we didn't have maintenance for zVM 5.1.

They had me run a trace for the flashcopy. They reviewed the trace and said
the hardware is not telling the operating system that it is flashcopy
capable. They told me to ask the CEs to set it up to inform the operating
system that it is flashcopy capable.

Thank you so much for helping.

Cecelia,

The 1010 wait state code has nothing to do with your spool problem. It
means that CP could not find the console. (See message HCP1010W.) If
this is first level then check your LOADPARM value. If this is second
level make sure CONMODE is set to 3270.

For the FLASHCOPY, given that it works via the CLI, I don't know why
it's not working from CP. It's supposed to work from full pack mdisk to a
dedicated volume. I'd start by testing with 2 dedicated volumes and
testing with 2 full pack mdisks. I'd also call support as soon as the
contract is awarded.
