Section A.3, "Architecture-related Notes" in the new file spec manual says, 
"the directory depth on a VAX is limited to 8 (or 16, using rooted logicals)."

One other thing on the pod.  We now refer to the compiler as DEC C, but 
isn't that being changed to "Compaq C"?  Perhaps all we need for now is a 
parenthetical remark somewhere saying it's the same animal so that someone 
who happens upon a VMS system with the latest compiler won't have to wonder 
what the heck DEC C is and where they can get it.  This assumes 6.2 can be 
made to swallow the Perl source.
