Craig, A few concerns I heard about:
... part of the problem is the integration with apache (mod_perl) and GNV (location of executables, libraries and logicals/aliasses)
I know about mod_perl, should be rebuilt to new PERL version (from apache.org? Has anyone done this already?) but what about the second issue. I think it should be taken into account.
A second point is the lack of (official) suport for newer versions of perl. Even on the last freeware CD is a newer version of perl (5.8.1) available. HP sites still stay on the 5.6.1 version. Even the perl.org site doesn't have any newer prebuild version for VMS avialable!
HP is to blame (well, sort of) if support is lacking there. WHY is HP not officially supporting a new PRL version, by the way? On PERL.ORG, I just checked, and there just remarks on 5.6.1 at HP, and 5.005-3 and 5.8.1. on the freeware CD's. Not about 5.8.4! I think this site needs an update on this!
