did you establish a workgroup name? just putting a cable between them wont work if they are not talking to each other. They have to be part of the same network.

Hello,
i just wanted to connect my desktop computer with my notebook (both XP
Pro).
So i installed RealVNC on my Desktop and copied the Viewer to my
notebook, both connected via Crossover Cable
On Desktop
started VNC Server, Insert my Passwort, allowed for Connections and AUTO
for Display
On Notebook:
started viewer, insert IP of Desktop (found out with ipconfig) and :0
for Display.
And i still have the Message: "Failed to connect to server".
Is it possible, to run vnc via crossover cable or is there anything,
i4ve done wrong?
regards
Rudi
