Hmm, no tick boxes for Mac on that page !

The most likely cause for CotVNC seeing the connection close unexpectedly is
that CotVNC doesn't support the secure session protocol used by the
AdderLink IP, and that the AdderLink IP is set to have Encryption Always On.
If you set Encryption Prefer On then you should find that CotVNC can
connect, albeit without encryption.
If that doesn't help then select Force Protocol 3.3 from the Advanced
Properties page, which will make the AdderLink IP more compatible with old &
poorly behaved viewers.

Excryption is set to Prefer On, and Force protocol 3.3 is set.

The Java Viewer supplied with WinVNC 3.3.7 is older than the one supplied
with the AdderLink IP - it's possible that there is a legacy compatibility
issue there between the new viewer and Safari's VM. Do you get any output
from the Java console when running the AdderLink IP Java Viewer?

Java console ?

Now here's an interesting twist, I realised that whilst I can't control the KVM and computers linked to the AdderLink, I can use the AdderLink controls at the top of the Java Viewer window (which are, I assume, presented via the VNC protocol). Whilst playing, I chose Mouse Control from the Control menu, selected Restore Mouse (then PS/2) and the keyboard sprung to life ! I find that 'interesting' since we've been able to use the local KVM plugged into the AdderLink (and we can use it with a Windoze viewer) so I don't think it's likely to be an issue between the AdderLink and the KVM !

So now I can control the systems via the Java Viewer, though I'd prefer to use the native viewer (CotVNC) which is MUCH faster. Still, it gives us what we set out to get, remote access to the system consoles - should save me trips to the office when the nightshift phone me up !

I also need to try playing with the mouse settings on the various hosts, since the AdderLink has to 'guesstimate' what the host is doing, something I never thought of before - it estimates the Mac server as doing pre-XP windows style mouse tracking, it doesn't match very well. I guess the best option is to set all the servers to use linear tracking.
