I have recently setup VNC (Version 4.1.1), with the VNC Server running on a
RedHat Linux 9, and VNC Viewer on a Windows XP (SP2).

It is working fine and I can access the server desktop 1 on the server, using
either a browser or viewer from my XP. I can even get a Gnome desktop.

When I tried to share the native X display, I ran into troubles. Please
help.

I followed the steps as suggested on
http://www.realvnc.com/products/free/4.1/x0.html

1) I checked the directory "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions" and found the
module "vnc.so" already there. So no need to copy at all.
2) I edited the XF86Config file in same directory to include Load "vnc" in
the Module Section
3) I also edited the XF86Config file to include the following in the Screen
Section:
        Option "SecurityTypes" "VncAuth"
        Option "UserPasswdVerifier" "VncAuth"
        Option "PasswordFile" "/root/.vnc/passwd"
I restarted the RedHat Linux PC, and started a vncserver desktop 1 with
"vncserver :1"

On accessing the server from my vncviewer from my XP, everything worked fine
when I tried to access desktop 1.

On opening up the vncviewer to access the native desktop 0 with
"domainname:0", my vncviewer showed a black applet window with a tiny curor
that could be moved around. But nothing else could be done. On the Redhat
server side, the whole screen froze ( I am not sure if Linux crashes or the X
Window system crashes). The only thing that can be done is to reboot the
Linux PC.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Regards,

YSK
