IMHO it is the density of these wormholes that is being manipulated at the most basic level of Casimir effect. IOW when I suggest a cavity and the supporting boundaries form a balanced segregation of suppressed virtual particles in the cavity vs compressed virtual particles in the boundaries it means the geometry is pushing these wormholes apart in opposition to the isotropy and segregating regions on the macro scale that are equally above and below the isotropy – Like the isotropy these regions also average out to zero but the difference is they are macro scale and represent the potential for zero point interaction with gas atoms.
