Unfortunately, the reactions are known to be temperature-dependent. I.e., if a reaction is going to happen, increasing the temperature (within limits) increases the reaction rate. The FPHE is not seen at liquid nitrogen temperatures. It's possible that an understanding of why this is so is being developed.
