example, the guys who invented the cigarette lighter didn't have to publish
theories of plasma or flame just to have their invention patented.  But
Gibbs seems to think that this is now a requirement for LENR hot water
heaters, even though it was not a requirement for previous hot water
heaters.

was what everyone at the time was trying to do.  They did not need to put
first-principles theories of flight in their patent.  Gibbs seems to think
