In the Bose-Einstein condensation of electrons that surround the nuclear active site, the positron is annihilated by an entangled electron that is a member of the condensate. The energy of this event is spread throughout the BEC ensemble.
The BEC acts as a shield for positron emissions. This is why BEC formation is so important to the LENR process. While we are thinking about these things: With the rule that odd numbered nuclei do not produce LENR reactions because that would stop the LENR cycle then as follows: In the alternative cases where an electron, proton or neutron enters the Ni62 nucleus as follows: The proton in the Ni62 atom would turn into a neutron producing cobalt 62. A cobalt/nickel loop would ensue. This would be a valid cycle but according to DGT not much cobalt is found in the ash. In the W&L case where a neutron enters the NI atom, an odd numbered nucleus NI63 is produced. According to DGT, odd numbered nuclei do not participate in LENR reactions. In the proton case hen a proton enters the Ni62 nucleus, Cu63 would result and the LENR cycle would stop.
