I've tried xorg. The release coming from Etch don't include geode lx device driver.
The first debian release supporting it is Lenny.

In my opinion the framebuffer support would be the best choice for a couple of reasons: - low cpu power don't justify the use of x11/xorg/xfree86, better a low lever driver - xorg is able to run using a framebuffer driver, having a kernel framebuffer both console and x11 support are guarantee - software such as mplayer, vnc, rdesktop are available in frambeuffer flavour that reduce space on compact flash and enanche performances
I Fully agree with that. It would be just great to have framebuffer support in the kernel :)
