Hmmmmm. You and I seem to be thinking on different wavelengths...
It would make a lot of sense to me to have a central repository
of ALL Amiga shareware, covered by a small core of handlers who
would collect and distribute the fees accordingly. IF we all
knew where the site was, and if it were linked to all Amiga
web sites, everyone would know where to go to get Amiga
shareware, just like they know you can go to Aminet to get
freeware, mods, etc, etc.
Seems like a no brainer. The cost would NOT be shared around
as badly as it is now with, to use your examples, three sets
of people trying to live off the avails of registering
shareware. You could have all upgrades posted there, and a
section where all programs using any shareware application
such as MUI, all in one place.
The costs could be reduced, because you would have only only
one person involved who could do the work of 3 or 4 or more.
I am sure each of the sites you mentioned has one person taking
care of each one. If you put three or four sites together on
one site, then one person would do the job of three or more.
You could have the one site that would be able to accept payment
via credit card, or some Internet card payment deal. One place
where all fees could be sent, and because that person would be
very knowledgable about the banking end of the deal in no time,
they would be able to trouble-shoot effectively. That person
could become a specialist. They also would be freeing up the
programmer from having to deal with the money thing, and have
them do the thing they do best: programme.
Just my 2-bits worth, FWIIW.
