A friend and I went the Still on Sunday. We went in first at the 127th St
access and stayed there for a while and landed a few in the deeper pools.
The fish above the pool in the riffles were just sitting ducks, and it
looked like they were in their redds, so we left them
alone. After my friend Jeff left, I went on up the river to a small
park-like pull-off on the north side of the road close to Darrington. There
is a large bend in the river close to road that is fairly deep with riffles
above and below. I landed about 10 or 12 that chased my fly and bit it. I
could see some in the water coming from as far as 20 feet away to chase it.
Actually, the ones that bit the fly were all hens, the bucks never took it
like that. All the fish I foul hooked were males. All in all, the fish were
pretty tired and didn't have much left in the motors. A couple weeks ago
they probably put up quite a fight.

I did catch one dolly varden which put up a decent fight. It was about 16
inches long and a great looking fish. First one I've ever caught.
