Greg, The problem is probably the MTU (maximum transfer unit??) setting on the Mac OS 9 machine. By default its set to 1500, but you need to change it to 1492 (I think). I don't know how you do that with an OS 9 machine. Its easy with an OS X box. I used a "broadband optimizer" script on the OS X box which amongst other things affected the MTU on OS X... Try something similar for an OS 9 machine?
