This machine has 2 network cards - one for ADSL and the other for the LAN.
I'm assuming when you say 2 network cards you mean 1 ADSL 'modem' card and one ethernet card?
If not and you've got an ADSL connection box with an ethernet port, try plugging the Mac in directly and see if it works.
Also, can the Mac read mail from that POP server from a different account or location? Can the Mac read mail from a different POP server?
