Kevin,
With most ADSL modems you can log into the modem via telnet or using
a web interface. Your owners manual should give you the details (it
is slightly different for each modem). Once you have logged in, there
will be an option to disconnect after a certain period, or to remain
connected, and probably even an automatic reconnect after
disconnection. Choose what you want. You will need to have entered
your log in details in the appropriate place (likely to be PPP, but
that is determined by your ISP) so you won't be prompted for username
and password at log in.
