Hi WAMUGers I¹ve been speaking to Santa about a car GPS. I have checked a thread that was on the list a while ago, spoken with the very knowledgeable Daniel K and Reg W. Here¹s the summary: Don¹t really need all the bells and whistles. And Tomtom is the way to go. However beware, it seems if you are thinking of purchasing an updated map each year they will slug you $150! It seems a good basic model is the Tomtom One or the Tomtom One XL which adds bluetooth and a wider 4.3 inch screen. Battery said to last 2 hours. Tomtom website/download area is mac friendly. I guess ³portable² means you can use it out of your car? Do you think the bluetooth will work with the iPhone? Are they of any use in country driving? Ie can use set it to take you to the Billabong Roadhouse or Denham or Pemberton or 80 Mile Beach?
A real GPS that you can plot waypoints, leave ³breadcrumb² trails etc seems to be a lot more expensive and maybe less mac friendly. Please any advice would be appreciated.
