Thanks for your suggestions. My attack of lust over the iPhone has
diminished considerably due to the hefty price (they will be $100 in 1
year) and hacking the SIM is probably illegal and
I would be seriously annoyed if I turned it into a brick. I have a CDMA
phone and now that their life has been extended by a few months I will
look at replacing it with a Nokia.
