My MacBook air 2012 appears to be hanging after an attempt to up date from 10.10 to 10.10.1. Update was done via app store and all appeared to go routinely until the restart. The machine appeared to shutdown normally and the initial restart appeared normal with the advice “restarting” appearing on the screen. The progress bar went all the way to the right and then nothing further happened. The “gear wheel” is still running and the “restarting” message is still showing after over an hour.
