John, I did the same as Alan and Ronni. Works as they describe. It s a nice feature I'd not known about before, so your pain has helped me learn something new. I hope you get it sorted.
I've not used the 'swipe up from the bottom of the screen' very much in the past, and my habit has been to use Settings to find how to change stuff, but it seems Apple are putting more things, useful things, into this tool.
