Hi Alan, I’ve just noticed you mention the iMac has 12MB RAM, I’m assuming you meant 12GB RAM? High Sierra requires a minimum of 2GB of RAM, but more RAM 4GB - or more is better for your Mac’s performance.
If the installer didn’t fully download, or the file was damaged. First delete the installer. (in your case all the partial installers) Then open the App Store app, click Purchased, and download High Sierra again. It might be best to go back and install the backup you did in Mavericks 10.9.5 before you commenced trying to upgrade to High Sierra.
