Barry asked about FTP programs for the Mac.
I use Fetch. It used to drive me really crazy until someone told me about a
little trick that's not obvious: You can simply drag a folder of files
right to the little Fetch window instead of moving one file at a time.
Also, if you upload a copy of a file that's already on the server, it won't
automatically delete the older file. You have to Remote>Delete the old file.
Anarchie is supposed to be good too. I downloaded a copy but never figured
out how to use it.
Until recently I'd never uploaded files to anything besides a Mac server.
That's really easy, since with Apple Remote Access, you just drag and drop
folders and files exactly like you would on your own desktop. However,
after I was told about the trick of dragging folders to Fetch, I came to
prefer as there are fewer steps required to access the server.
If you're interested in using a Mac host, Opendoor.com here in Ashland is
good. I also looked at Digital Forest in Seattle the other day and was most
impressed with their extensive package of services. Pretty web site too.
