Is it a persons responsiblity to see that their car is safe? Not really, that's why
many cities have vehicle inspection service.

If a person uses a tool then they should maintain the tool and know how to use
it.

Should a person have a vocabulary of 100 or 1000 or 10000 words? Should you
write for the person with a grade school education or high school or....

I would like to see more emphasis placed on people learning to use computers
(and not learning to use microsoft software).

I would like to see programmers AT LEAST provide for better error handling.

I really don't know enough about an O/S to advise anyone on what to do. I
myself, I install and uninstall all the time.

Just now I went to re-install my NT. I choose for the "repair mode" or whatever it
was. Everything seemed to go fine.

It booted up and as soon as I logged on it crashed. The BSOD told me that the
tcpip.sys file caused the problem.

I booted into dos and changed tcpip.sys to tcpip.dum. I then booted up with no
problem.

I then installed the service pack 3 for NT 4.0 and tcpip.sys was recreated and I
have been able to boot without a problem.

But some things just aren't working right on my system. I used to be able to
view a file from cute-ftp in whatever editor I chose but it is not working. I canot
do the same with winzip either. No error messages leads me anywhere. It just
fails. Big bummer.

But, while I am talking about cute-ftp let me say "DON'T BUY IT". I asked
about the update and they told me I would have to pay the full price for it. No
way. I went to the Textapd website and just downloaded the latest version and
had no problem; no requirement to pay anything although I would not have
minded chipping in another US$10 or so. I want them to make enough money
to keep developing. If they had a few thousand users then US$10 per year for
updates should keep them alive (and don't forget new sales).

So before I pay cute-ftp for the latest version I will try every other ftp program
out there. What a dumb marketing move. I will probably not buy the upgrade
even if I don't find a better ftp program.
