Oops, missed this one when it first appeared... anyway, the C:\...\CABS directory is
created by some OEM installations of Win95, and typically contains various setup
files, drivers, etc. The config.sys file you'd find there would almost surely be a,
er,
virgin version as it were, i.e., a generic configuration not especially pertinent to
your present system setup.
Basically, leaving everything intact in the \CABS directory may simplify the process
of reinstalling or configuring parts of Win95 should things go wonky, but otherwise it
has no bearing on day-to-day operation. If you don't have a config.sys in your
root directory, then the one that is in \CABS is almost surely valueless.
