Hey all!
Let's see... I gotta remember to post more often! I keep on forgetting to
post even though I am always checking my e-mail, being on continuous job
search mode.
What was I rambling about... ah yes. I believe my last ramble was about how
I have been trying to get a junior level web development position, and one
of the prospects was Trinity Communications. Took 'em two months to finally
tell me I wasn't exactly what they were looking for... also interviewed
with Allaire, which was a no go, and currently interviewing for yet another
web development perm position at Webavoire at http://www.webivoure.com/ and
Miller Systems at http://www.millersystems.com/
But what is funny is that even though I didn't hear from Trinity that I
didn't get the job, they seemed to have remembered me...
Yesterday I received from a call from a Travel Agency here in Boston,
saying that they were referred to me by Trinity... "We have the text
written, and are still collecting the pictures for the site... we already
were talking with another web designer, and we already have web space
reserved... we need the web site on-line by September 1st, but only have a
budget of $2000."
Thankfully, the client did most of the talking, as I scrambled for a
notepad to scribble notes on. If I had to do the talking, I would have been
stuttering.... "T-T-Tuh-Two thousand?" Then again this isn't really a done
deal, since they are now carefully reviewing my web portfolio, to see if it
is a go. I hope it is... my unemployment ran out, and rent is due next
week. ;}
Hrm... If it is a go, maybe I can ask for 30% down, 30% when the web site
is half done, and 30% when the web site is completed. I'd be able to pay
this months rent, then hold out another couple of months while I continue
looking for perm employment, to add the dash of seasoning I would get in a
real world corporate environment. Heh! Might get better chances of a perm
position if I add another client to my web portfolio...
Well, that's about it.. what did I miss? ;}
