Hi Jack and all,
I have been looking for good partners so much that it hurts. I am enough of
a generalist (law, languages, business, money)
to come up with good idea's. I started with multimedia CD's , saw how tough
it was to get shelf space and went on to web design.
But for the production of good web pages I need skills beyond what I can do
myself, especially programming but also professional graphics (witness my
questions sometimes).
Outsourcing works, but is not as satisfactory as having a brainstorming
team that improves with more interaction.
It is also not so much fun.
I started with a talented graphic artist; the deal was that, on top of a
minimal salary, after one year, he would get 21% of the company.
The idea was to find another partner, with programming talent, to take
another 21% and myself keeping the balance.
It hasn't worked yet. Promises of future profits in a company that doesn't
make a profit yet are not strong enough to hold real talent, especially
when this talent is discovered by (movie) companies with deep pockets.
I keep hoping, though. Perhaps I'll find the right partners in this forum.
Who knows?
P.S. Jack, I'm good at writing agreements. It's making them that's the hard
part.
