I have vague memories of reading that a couple of companies are currently
suing Yahoo and some individual posters because postings on one of Yahoo's
stock boards caused a stock drop. I believe in the fair exchange of info,
but these are lawsuit-happy times we live in....I think we need advice from
the lawyer-types on the list about this.

My personal feeling is that companies *shouldn't* be allowed to sue for a
fact (i.e. if a company is 60 days late paying a bill, that's a fact, but
if you call them "deadbeats" that's an opinion). However, over the years
I've read various things about slander/libel that have lead me to believe
that any hurt to a company's "good name" can be considered a legal reason
to sue. I'm not sure where stating that one has had a bad experience fits
in -- if it damages the company's "good name" does that mean that the
company could sue the person who posted (or, heaven's forbid, sue our
esteemed moderator)? Having never sued or been sued, I'm pretty much
clueless about all this, so I'd love to hear from someone who actually
knows the laws and can give us some good advice.

Food for thought on this sunny Saturday.
