Canada, together with the US and Mexico, is a signatory to the North
American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which regulates most forms of
trade -- in goods *and* services -- between those countries. NAFTA has
eliminated or will eliminate preferential tariffs on a whole host of cross-
border services.
These notably include construction, engineering, accounting, commercial
education, health care management, advertising, environmental services,
tourism, land transport, consulting and architecture. Banking, air services
and telecommunications fall under special sections of the act, but the
general trend is still towards tariff reduction between Canada and the US.
